For many years we have been told the key to losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight is to eat less and exercise more. We have all heard that right? And does it work? NO!! So what happens? People get fed up, and what do they do.....they quit exercising! Instead of looking at their diet and saying maybe something is off with this aspect of my lifestyle. They quit exercising and keep eating the same way they always did. The result is they gain more weight. They become more miserable.
Many of you have heard "Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym" I am sorry but, this is true! What you fuel your body with will determine how much success you have with the time spent exercising.
Big Food Companies want you to believe that living on processed foods is good for you. Yet, our country has an obesity epidemic that only continues to get worse. Lifestyle related diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, elevated cholesterol levels all are on the rise. Obviously, someone is "feeding" us lies.
Where you get your calories from matters. Calories from sugars increase fat storage and make a person hungrier, whereas calories from fat keep a person full longer. Essentially, telling people to run off their extra weight doesn’t do any good if the diet is full of processed foods.(sugars!)
Eating a diet full of nutrient rich foods like healthy fats, lean protein, organically grown vegetables and fruits will fuel your body so that all the effort you put into exercise will be worth something. Avoid packaged foods with chemicals and sugars that harm your body, limit grains and carbohydrates which break down to sugar in your body and work against your weight loss goals.
What you eat is either healing your body or harming your body. Choose wisely.
