First always plan ahead and pack some healthy snacks. When you are unprepared is when the trouble happens.
Some of the things I like to pack to take along are the following:
1)Apples. Easy to transport, satisfies sweet cravings and fills you up with fiber!
2)Take a gluten free tortilla and spread it with some hummus and add in some greens and avocado slices.
3)Pack some whole grain rice cakes and take along some single serve packages of almond butter to spread on them.
4)Hard boiled eggs. Fill you up, provide protein and are so easy to travel with.
5)Medjool dates. These are going to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth quickly.
6)Remember to drink plenty of water. We sometimes mistake our boredom as hunger. Keeping your belly full of water will help to alleviate the hunger/boredom mixed message. If plain water doesn't get you excited there are a number of naturally flavored waters that are very good. I especially love LaCroix coconut water!
With these snack ideas you are not only eating healthy and avoiding the candy isle when you stop for gas, you are also eating gluten, dairy and soy free!
