The average American man's heart age is nearly 8 years higher than his actual age, while the average U.S. woman's heart is 5.5 years older, according to a report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Heart Disease is the nation's number one killer, even with all the advances in prevention and treatment!
In Missouri it was found that the % of adults whose heart is 5 or more years older than their actual age is 44.4%-47.9%. This is terrible news Missouri! We need to do much better.
The good news is that there are things you can do to help lower your heart age, like lose weight, quitting smoking, exercising, and eating a healthy plant based diet.
If you would like to take the test to see what your heart age is go to www.heartage.me
You will need to know your total cholesterol, your HDL and your systolic Bp number(the top number of the reading).
If you don't know these numbers you can ask your doctor to check them through a simple blood test.
My office can also order these tests for you at a very low cost.
I was thrilled to find that all my efforts are paying off. My heart age was 10 years younger than my actual age. I was not expecting that, but glad that it turned out that way.
You can accomplish this too! Start with the quiz and if you need help making changes, give me a call and I can help make suggestions on how you too can lower your heart age.
